Egypt's Sustainable Tourism Digital Ecosystem

The challenge

Environmental policy is written in reports. It only changes behavior when it reaches people. The EEAA needed to reach three completely different audiences at once — international travelers looking for authentic nature experiences, hotels and businesses in Sharm El-Sheikh being asked to go green, and thousands of divers who see what is happening under the Red Sea before any official does. There was no digital layer connecting any of them, and no channel to capture what divers were observing on the seabed.

Our approach

Instead of one website trying to serve everyone, NRG built a connected ecosystem — each platform speaking to one audience in its own language, all feeding the same national environmental agenda. Eco Egypt Experiences — the destination platform. Egypt's protected areas, ecological excursions and the national Green List of certified eco-lodges, hotels, diving centres and liveaboards, built for the international traveller. Green Sharm — the accountability platform for the UNDP/EEAA Green Sharm El-Sheikh initiative. Live sustainability progress across energy, water, waste, transport and biodiversity, plus a directory of green hotels and operators. CDWS Eco Monitoring App — the field layer. A dive-logging app for professional and amateur divers in Egypt that turns every dive into an ecological data point, letting the Ministry collect reports of unusual phenomena and marine incidents in real time.
